From early morning, authorities in a broad part of the capital’s greater area have been carrying out a coordinated effort aimed at dismantling a group believed to be behind a string of illicit activities.

So far, several individuals have been brought in for questioning and are expected to face formal charges; investigators say evidence links them to dozens of incidents.
